A leading engineering services provider is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Substation Engineering and Design to oversee its Utility Services division. This national leadership role focuses on driving technical excellence, team development, financial performance, and maintaining strong client relationships within the substation engineering and design sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the substation engineering team, managing physical and protection & control design projects for utility clients across the country.
  • Ensure financial performance through revenue growth, cost control, and employee performance management.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and profitability, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Manage contract compliance, performance milestones, and client communications.
  • Mentor and develop engineering teams and department managers, fostering innovation and professional growth.
  • Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, expand the client base, and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present proposals, project estimates, and technical insights to senior leadership and clients.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements to maintain competitive positioning.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, client presentations, and business development activities.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum of 7 years of substation engineering and design experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-year engineering programs and contract compliance.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and organizational skills, with experience in business development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to inspire and guide teams effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools (e.g., Excel, Access).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
