We are seeking a senior engineering leader to drive innovation, technical excellence, and business growth within a Power Delivery Engineering Practice. This is a high-impact role ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive experience executing substation and distribution design projects for electric utilities.
The successful candidate will lead both people and strategy — guiding team performance, expanding client partnerships, and supporting continued organizational growth.
This leader will oversee a division of approximately 150 employees, including 120 within the Distribution Engineering group and 30 within the Substation team.
Location: In office working schedule. Can be based out of Detroit, Dallas, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Cincinnati
Responsibilities
Technical & Innovation Leadership
- Champion new technologies and best practices to keep our teams at the cutting edge of the power industry.
- Provide strategic technical guidance across power engineering disciplines.
- Mentor engineers and support professional development across the team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement design standards and improve project delivery.
- Identify talent gaps and support strategic hiring efforts to strengthen technical depth.
Operational Leadership
- Partner with market leaders to assess team capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
- Support QA/QC efforts and ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery.
- Guide internal training efforts and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Provide regulatory and compliance updates relevant to the power sector.
- Contribute to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team culture.
Strategic Growth & Client Engagement
- Work with leadership to develop and execute plans for technical and business growth.
- Serve as a technical advisor in client meetings, proposals, and strategic pursuits.
- Represent the firm in industry associations, conferences, and publications to advance thought leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- 15+ years of experience in the power industry
- Proven technical expertise in power distribution, transmission, and substation design
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Ability to travel as needed to support business objectives
