A top-tier engineering firm is seeking a Principal Relay Settings Engineer to join their System Protection group. This is a fully remote role with occasional travel required for onsite support. Previous experience with Entergy projects would be a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and program protective relay settings to ensure system safety and reliability.
- Perform owner's engineering duties, providing oversight and technical support to utility clients.
- Conduct CT performance evaluations, short circuit studies, and feasibility analyses.
- Lead the development of protection standards, setting templates, and technical documentation.
- Perform peer reviews and quality checks on relay settings deliverables.
- Support relay testing and commissioning activities as needed.
- Provide leadership in project planning, client communication, and internal coordination.
- Mentor junior engineers and support training initiatives within the protection team.
- Represent the team in industry forums and technical meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in protection and control engineering, with a focus on relay settings; 15+ years preferred.
- Deep familiarity with IEEE, NERC PRC standards, and industry best practices.
- Proficient with CAPE or equivalent short circuit modeling software.
