A global, employee-owned engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer with strong experience supporting renewable energy projects, hyperscale data center interconnections, and substation grid upgrades. This role focuses on delivering high-quality power studies and supporting multidisciplinary teams for major utility and developer clients.
Locations: Houston, Dallas, or Austin (Hybrid flexibility available)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review advanced power studies including:
short circuit, load flow, grounding, arc flash, harmonic, insulation coordination, reactive power compensation, cable ampacity, protection coordination, and auxiliary system sizing. - Size major electrical equipment: transformers, breakers, switches, inverters, generators, capacitor banks, reactors, surge arrestors, switchgear, CTs, cables, UPS, etc.
- Develop protection coordination and relay settings.
- Utilize industry tools such as PSSE, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PSCAD, Mathcad Prime (or equivalents).
- Provide engineering support for renewable generation, energy storage, and critical-load data center facilities.
- Collaborate with clients and internal delivery teams across multiple offices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant power system engineering experience.
- Advanced knowledge of solar, wind, and BESS system integration and modeling.
- Familiarity with IEEE electrical equipment and protection standards.
- Demonstrated leadership supporting complex engineering project delivery.
