Transmission Line Engineering Manager wanted for a leading EPC in Chicago. This would be a hybrid working schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a collaborative team to assess client requirements, develop project deliverables, and provide regular progress updates.
- Establish design parameters in alignment with industry regulations, company guidelines, and client specifications.
- Supervise the development of computer models for overhead electric transmission lines and structures using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
- Manage the preparation of drawings, specifications, and design criteria for procuring tubular steel structures, lattice towers, and transmission line hardware. Review vendor-provided calculations and drawings for compliance.
- Oversee the creation of comprehensive construction packages for internal construction teams and client contractors, including plan and profiles, staking sheets, stringing tables, material lists, structure details, phasing diagrams, foundation plans, and installation guidelines.
- Ensure quality and compliance by reviewing complex drawing packages to meet client requirements and industry codes.
- Promote a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement.
- Present reports and technical findings to senior management, analyze PLS-CADD data, develop design tools, and prepare reports using Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Yammer).
- Manage resource allocation while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct site visits, attend client meetings, and travel to supplier facilities as needed for project execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in transmission line design and engineering for voltages ranging from 69kV to 345kV.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE; experience with PLS-TOWER is a plus.
- Familiarity with MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical applications for foundation design is preferred
